The Sweetest Thing by Christina Mandelski

The Sweetest Thing is about a teen cake decorator name Sheridan.  With her Mom running off years ago and her Dad obsessed with becoming the next famous cooking show Chef, Sheridans' life is a bit of a mess. She is convinced that finding her Mom with make her family be perfect again.

The Sweetest Thing was a fun fluffy contemporary read. I just have to say that I adore the cover. I don't know why but I love colorful covers and especially love food related covers!  Sheridan...I honestly didn't like her. She was in my opinion a selfish brat, however I did feel really sorry for her. The fact that her father didn't pay any attention to her and having an absent mother, who wouldn't feel sorry for her.  There's a bit of instant love and a triangle, which made The Sweetest Thing a little predictable. The ending was great and was a good example of the trials of a family life mixed with with a coming to age feel.

I recommend The Sweetest Thing to younger readers. It was a clean read.

4 out of 5 stars
